Electrophysiology

Doctor with Elderly Patient

Electrophysiology is a sub-specialty of cardiology that deals with abnormal rhythms of the heart. As technology continually advances, this discipline was established to focus on these complex issues allowing physicians to offer patients new and exciting treatments. Electrophysiologists are cardiologists who have completed advanced training in this field and often have achieved the level of board certification. These specialists diagnose and treat the problems that may occur when the heart beats too slow, fast or irregularly.

Symptoms of slow heart rates can often be treated with pacemaker therapy, while those with fast or irregular heart rhythms may be candidates for electrophysiology studies with ablation or benefit from internal cardioverter defibrillator therapy. Finally, advanced pacing technology has helped millions of people who suffer from congestive heart failure. We are proud to offer our patients complete state-of-the-art arrhythmia services.
