CARI Academic Activities

  • Academic appointments at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University are held by all CARI physicians and we are actively involved in the cardiology fellowship training programs at The Miriam and Rhode Island Hospitals. Many of us do teaching rounds with the internal medicine residents at The Miriam Hospital on a regular basis.
  • Teaching excellence by members of our practice has been recognized by residents who have awarded members of CARI for their dedication to teaching medicine.
  • Medical research has been an active focus of our doctors and we have published more than 90 articles in major medical journals, such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and Circulation. Our physicians have presented papers at local, national and international conferences as well taught courses here and abroad.
  • CARI sponsors an annual cardiology conference updating the medical community on the latest topics in cardiology and featuring a distinguished national faculty---OSCARx.
  • Regional Leadership for New England in the latest cardiac CT imaging techniques.
  • Specialized expertise in cardiovascular techniques are shared with other cardiologists and cardiologists in training.

CARI at a Glance

CARI offers the convenience of a private-practice setting with the best technology available in the largest academic hospitals. Over the last two decades, CARI has grown from one office, one cardiologist and one secretary to 11 physicians, 5 offices throughout Rhode Island and more than 50 professional assistants. Each office offers full diagnostic testing, except for CT and MRI, which are available only in Providence.

Our doctors are leaders in specialized areas of diagnosis and are Board Certified in ECHO, Nuclear, EP, Peripheral Vascular Disease, CT and MRI imaging. Our laboratories are nationally accredited. Beyond our commitment to excellence, is a culture of caring and compassion – we treat one patient at a time with all the time that patient requires. We will not allow the technological advances in medicine and the sweeping changes in the “business” of medicine to interfere with our patient-doctor relationships and the old-fashioned manner in which we practice the art of medicine.
