Michael Hyder, MD, MPH, FACC

Dr. Hyder is an interventional electrophysiologist, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. He specializes in cardiac ablations and implantation of electrical heart devices, such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.

After graduating cum laude from Boston College with dual degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems, Dr. Hyder worked as a computer consultant dealing with emerging technologies. He attended Boston University, receiving a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in health care administration and epidemiology. After receiving his MD at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Dr. Hyder stayed on to complete his postgraduate training in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and cardiac electrophysiology. He served as chief cardiac fellow in the final year of his fellowship.

Dr. Hyder has presented his research in electrophysiology in several national and international academic meetings. His interests include pacing therapy for congestive heart failure, defibrillator treatment for sudden cardiac death and curative ablations for fast rhythms of the heart. He enjoys actively participating in the education of the cardiac fellows affiliated with the Brown University School of Medicine.

Dr. Hyder is a native of New England and now resides in Rhode Island. He and his wife enjoy the diverse activities of the ocean state with their two young children.
